Welcome to Wildcat Country

Ahhhh... nothing like the sound of the "opening" ringtone alarm clock to begin my first day of college.  The University of Arizona is truly a unique place to attend school, last night the University held it's convocation for new and returning students on our campus mall packed with over 40,000 students from all around the country, and as a kid from a town of 8,000 it was a huge ordeal. The Bigger. Better. Bash they called it. Tucson, however has its notorious monsoon season, and monsoon it did.  Ten minutes into our special guest, Australian DJ Hot Dub, the rain began and it. was. biblical. I'm talking get ready to build your arks ladies and gentlemen, so we were shut down an hour and half early to return to the safety of our residence halls.

This didn't damper the UA spirit however, many students remained on the mall in the monsoon chanting "F*CK ASU" complete with the malicious lightening and everything.  I however proceeded to run around a local playground with a good friend of mine feeling once again like the child that I am at heart.

The first day of classes brought many things but fear was not one of them.  There is much anticipation in beginning a college course, rather it be a 15 person Spanish 103 class or a 200 person American Antiquity class there is an excitement associated with the knowledge you are going to gain in the coming semester.  As I sat down and marked my due dates in my syllabus I knew college was going to be a challenge for me but I also knew that this is what I have been preparing for since I was very young.

I'm not even sure what the intention of this post even was initially, but I will close with stating that as a human who truly did not fit in or remotely enjoy high school I can honestly say that college is a brand new and positive experience for me and I am definitely #WildcatReady
